Wow...this place is great!”
My fiance and I decided to get away for a last minute trip to Snow Trails this weekend. I checked with Spruce Hill and they had an opening. I spoke with Elizabeth- she was very helpful and sweet.
Upon arrival to our cottage Elizabeth had candles light and the space heater on in the bathroom to make it extra cozy. The furnishings were comfortable, beyond basic, and spotlessly clean! The property is wooded and gorgeous. We brought our dog with us and took a nature walk around the grounds to let him play in the snow. We will be back...great trip!

I just returned home from a stay in one of the cottages at Spruce Hill Inn and cottages. This place was amazing. We celebrated Valentine's Day and our anniversary with a one night stay. I am not sure how the negative reviews came about , but I cannot give one negative statement. The cottage was very clean, updated and cozy. The bedding was very nice and the service was great. I also had an in room massage and that service was wonderful. Very professional and the cottage provided a fluffy comfy robe for that visit. We were treated as if we were the only ones there. I was so impressed with the price we will definitely be returning as soon as possible.

We were hesitant to book this room due to another comment online saying they would not go back. My husband pointed out that this would have been the forth visit by that user and really who would go back three times previously if it was a bad experience?? They were really upset because they canceled plans and was charged a fee – clearly that happens with any hotel chain and should be expected if you cancel so we decided to try it and we were pleasantly surprised! The location was peaceful and the surroundings were beautiful! We even enjoyed the short drive. My husband can be grumpy so when we arrived to discover the power was out I thought that would ruin any chance of a good stay but it didn’t. Our service was exceptional - we were greeted with a smile even with the power out we were able to check in and unload our luggage. The power was out in the surrounding three cities due to the heat and A/C demand but when we returned the power was on and our room was ready and waiting on us. I would say that this is not a modern “luxury” hotel, however it certainly stands proudly with country charm and unique views. We will be back!

The experience was excellent. The hospitality was exceptional. We will be coming again to the suite with the balcony. The atmosphere is beautiful. The stars are so visible at night. Our breakfast was great. We felt at home. Please save us a room. We will be back in 2 weeks. Thanks for everything.

My husband and I were given a night at Spruce Hills by our daughters for our anniversary. It is an amazing place to relax and share time together without distractions. The scenery is beautiful, the jacuzzi tubs soothing, the proprietors very personable and hospitable, but not intrusive (a delicious homecooked breakfast provided). Spruce Hills is located just a couple of miles off I-71 and only about 1 mile from a Walmart and restaurants. It's very convenient, yet quietly secluded next to Snow Trails. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend it for personal and group retreats.

Wow, I'm not sure at all why this place has received negative reviews. Whatever the case may be, they really no longer apply. My husband and I went for our one year anniversary. From beginning to end, our stay was absolutely lovely. The owner went out of her way to answer my emails and make us feel welcome when we arrived. She was personable and friendly throughout our stay. The cottage we stayed in was beautiful. It was very clean, and it smelled great. There were even a few candles lit to welcome us! The bed was really comfortable, and the jacuzzi tub was wonderful after walking around all day. Outside of the cottage, the property is just gorgeous. We loved sitting out by the pond in the evening, surrounded by beautiful pine trees, gazing up at the stars. A truly magical experience!! And to top it off, I highly recommend requesting breakfast in the morning! The owner makes it herself, and it tastes great!

My husband made reservations for us to spend our first anniversary at Spruce Hill to surprise me. Our anniversary is in December, and with no snow on the ground, the ski hills next door were empty. On the drive in, we happened to see all kinds of wildlife - just from the main road to our cottage. We walked in and I immediately saw the large bathroom with garden jacuzzi tub which became my favorite part of the cottage itself! The room itself was very large & spacious with a large deck just off the double glass doors. My husband had ordered a special coffee gift basket for me, which the Inn provided and it was lovely. We had no neighbors during our stay and that kept it very private and made our first anniversary very special for us. I would definitely go back.

We decided to take a last minute trip to spruce hill for a little weekend getaway. This place is great! The little cottages are small, but perfect for a couple. They were so clean and well decorated. The cottages were either overlooking the mountain or facing a nice wooded area. We brought our dog and had a great time hanging out by the fireplace, running in the snow and enjoying some hiking at local Malabar farms. The owners of the cottages couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating! We will definitely be back!
Room Tip: Talk to the manager and let her know if you want to be on the slopes or facing the more quiet wooded area. The cottages are duplexes... one side has a deck and the other has a sunroom. We opted for the deck with the dogs but the sunroom side looked really nice too!

Once Upon A Cottage in Magical Mansfield"
I booked a romance package through Living Social for my wife and I. When we arrived we found the room to be more than we expected! I asked for a room with a deck and barbeque, along with a king bed. Opening the door we found rose petals around the jacuzzi tub and on the bed and 2 long stem roses. I made my wife a nice salmon dinner on the grill and was able to cook her breakfast in the small kitchenette. By chance there was a wedding on the second night so we were able to dance on our deck all night long to the music being played! We had a great time at the inn and a fun afternoon at the farm, petting farm was the best for my wife. Dinner at the Malabar farm was great!
We will never forget that weekend....Thank you so much and we can't wait to come back! Steve Thomas, very happily married for 21 years
My wife and I stayed at the spruce hill cottages for a weekend while we went skiing at snow trails. It was overall a nice stay with only a couple issues. Ill start with the good things. Each cottage comes with a two person jacuzzi tub which is very nice. Our room cost 149+ tax. The cheapest "hotel" in the area with a jacuzzi room was 179+ you can't beat the price at spruce hill. It's in a nice location literally next door to snow trails. The decor was a Little outdated and the bed was firm but comfortable. The previous renter must have taken the jacuzzi tub's drain plug with them as we couldn't find it anywhere. It was midnight and we had just gotten back from snow tubing. We were tired and cold and just wanted to soak in the jacuzzi. The owners are only in the office until 11 pm but they give you two cell numbers to reach them in case you have any issues. We called their cell and the woman was very nice and apologetic and offered to bring us a plug right away. When she showed up ten minutes later she not only brought us a plug but a goodie basket with snacks and bath salts for our trouble. She was very sweet! The only complaints that we have are: tv is very old and small, the driveway at the bottom of hill and around the cottages is dirt with very little stone. It was a mud pit and filled with potholes. And finally the door of the cottage has zero insulation around it. We could hear our neighbors whole conversation as they stood outside talking at 1 am. Other than the issues I mentioned it was a pleasant time and we will probably go back again.
