My Cloud Watch

By Elizabeth Clark   |  May 31, 2018

My heart is so broken learning a high school classmate of mine committed suicide… Couple days after her husband passed away due to illness, not knowing where to turn for emotional and financial support, she took her own life…Their bodies will be laid to rest tomorrow. With prayers and donations -big and small, our class have come together to comfort and help the grieving children. I made this video clip in memory of my classmate, Nida. I wanted to erase that scene in my mind, changing it to a different scenario where I was with her that night, holding her hand sharing her the love of our Lord Jesus, telling her that her sorrow and problems matter to Him, and singing this song: 'Tomorrow'......read more

Awww -Ohio weather! You gotta love it!

By Elizabeth Clark   |  January 14, 2013

Well, we did enjoy some warm weather with the rain lately--felt like spring for a few days. a nice break somehow when all the snow on our hills and roads melted! (My daisies, tulips and knock-out roses were confused --I saw new shoots!) And now back to cold and chilly weather again --so I can hear Snow Trails' smoking guns blowing snow all night and all day! So we should be good this Martin Luther King weekend when you come -- we will have lots of man-made snow and on Monday we'll see fresh natural snow topping the ski slopes! Awwww- Ohio weather! i love it!...read more

Numbering Our Days

By Stefan Misaras   |  April 10, 2012

As Moses took God as his dwelling place, he realized that the span of his life on earth is short (see Psa. 90:3-11). We may live on earth for 70 or 80 years, and to God even 1000 years are “like yesterday when it passes by, and like a watch in the night” (see v. 4). Our life on earth is short and “full of sins and afflictions” – if we have such a realization, we will take God as our dwelling place! We need to take God as our habitation that we may dwell in God, living in Him every minute of our life, and having all our being in God!...read more

The Rich Fool

By David -   |  March 27, 2012

During the week in which Facebook finally filed its paperwork for the most anticipated initial public offering since Google, and the news media was buzzing over the number of millionaires that the Facebook IPO would create, my small group Bible study just happened to be discussing the parable of the rich fool in Luke 12:13-34. This parable, presented amidst an inheritance dispute which the Lord wanted no part of, tells the story of a farmer whose bumper crop brings him great wealth overnight and causes him to decide to indulge his soul in retirement. But his retirement lasts less than one day; he expires and his accumulated wealth cannot compensate for his personal deficit toward God. ...read more

Silence

By Beth Ackerman   |  March 14, 2012

I’ve been struggling and growing in the spiritual disciplines of solitude and silence. And people who know me are probably laughing to themselves right now, because you see, I’m a doer and a talker! Though I struggle with these disciplines, I do see the value in their practice. Last month, I talked about preparing your calendar for times of study. But I’m so busy, my calendar is full of “doing”, even my devotional time is “doing” – reading, praying, studying… that I often leave no time in my calendar and devotion to just be, in silence, and listen to God. ...read more
